30 hours of labor and a c-section later...

...our bundle of joy arrived! Landon James arrived on Saturday, March 29th at 7:24pm, weighing in at 7 pounds and 4 ounces and measuring 20 inches long! Here's how the delivery unraveled...

I went to my 40 week doctor appointment on Friday at 10:15 AM. I had an ultrasound first to check my fluid levels and then would have my appointment with my doctor. So I had the ultrasound and the tech said that the baby looked good, no stress, but my fluids were low. (Ok, I'm not sure what that means), so I go see my doctor down the hall. She came in my exam room and said that I bought a ticket to Labor and Delivery with my low fluids, and that they were going to start my induction today (Friday), instead of April 3rd/4th, as planned the prior week. I called Jason and told him to pack our bags the baby was coming! Shocked, he did and arrived to the hospital shortly. Luckily, after being hooked up to the machines, they realized that my body had already gone into labor on it's own, so they started the pitocin...and we waited. We played cards (I owe Jason $28 from Texas Hold Em and Blackjack), watched TV and did crossword puzzles to spend the time. Later in the evening, I started back labor really bad. I weathered through it as much as I could before I asked for some meds at about 2:00 AM. The nurse gave me a narcotic that would take the edge off for about 2 hours so I could get some sleep - I'll take it! At about 5:00 AM, I asked what I could have next, and the doctor on call said to give me the epidural. About an hour and a half later, I was numb and feeling comfortable. I pretty much napped all day in between the nurses and doctor checking on me. Around 5:30 PM or so, I was fully dilated and ready to push! WOO HOO!!! I pushed for about an hour and no progress (what else is new?!!??!)! They checked my temperature (normal routine check at this point) and it was 100 degrees. Given my temp, I had been laboring for 30 hours and progression was slow, the doctor recommended a c-section before we got into an unsafe territory for me or the baby. Although, I was dreading a delivery like this, I knew it was best for everyone involved and the hospital staff were fabulous, so I knew I was in good hands. Once the c-section was decided things moved pretty fast and Landon was born at 7:24 pm!

We came home on Tuesday around noon and are getting adjusted to being back home, nursing, sleeping (or lack thereof) and working through gas problems, which we think are now solved - WOO HOO!!! And as many parents say, it was all worth it. We love him to death - poopy diapers, bloody murder screaming and everything in between - he's ours, is adorable and is just so darn cute!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, now I know in our day we have always had so much the same and that is why I came to be your little. :) But, this is bizarre...your story sounded like Chase's birth story except I only pushed a few times before they realized my temp and his heartrate were really bad. I am SOOOO happy for you too. Landon is absolutely beautiful!! I love the name and everything about him. He is perfect!!! Congrats MOMMY!!!
Love you both!

YAY!!! So excited and happy for you guys! It's surreal, isn't it? Enjoy every second of it, the poopy diapers and screaming and all. (Um, ok, maybe not those so much.) But being a parent is the most amazing thing in the world and it just keeps getting better and better -- congrats and much love to you both!
