Snow!

Richmond had it's second big snow of the winter, which is very abnormal, and we are supposed to get another storm in a week. I'm sure the weathermen are having a field day! We got 12 inches on Saturday, so we ventured out on Sunday to shovel our driveway and walkway. Luckily, one of our neighbors stopped by in a Bobcat and said "20 bucks and I'll have you out in no time". Done! With 2 back surgeries for Jason and a baby in the belly for me that was a no-brainer! Landon thought the snow was ok...a little hesitant and unsure. He was definitely done when he fell face first in it with no mittens on!

Landon's first trip to the dentist

Landon had his first trip to the dentist. Our friend Lyla is our dentist and luckily we saw her a lot this past weekend, so Landon was already saying her name and knew who she was. The 3 of us got our teeth cleaned. Landon laid on Daddy and opened wide in the beginning and then covered his mouth and then warmed up again and let Lyla clean his teeth with the cleaning instrument and Mr. Thirsty (the instrument that sucks out all of your saliva). I would say all in all he did really well, and won't grow up being scared of the dentist. He got a new toothbrush and a few prizes, too!

We're having a GIRL!!!

We decided that we were going to find out the sex of Baby #2...for several reasons. Jason has always wanted to know the sex of the baby. Unfortunately, he lost when I was pregnant with Landon, so this time around I was reconsidering it. And, two, I needed to know if I should keep the 5 storage bags full of boys clothes or give them away to a pregnant friend having a little boy.

We decided that since we were finding out the beginning of December if it was a boy or girl that we would ask the ultrasound technician (I'm sure they have a fancier medical name than that) to write it in a card and we would open the envelope either on Christmas Day or New Year's Day (12:01am). After thinking about it, we decided New Years, so we could focus on the fun Christmas with Landon and I knew once I found out that I'd be distracted and immediately shopping and researching.

So the clock struck 12:00am and it was 01/01/2010...and we hugged and kissed a Happy New Year with our friends Ross and Lyla and Catrina and Errol. Now it was time to open the envelope...everyone was dying. I opened it and couldn't tell by the ultrasound pic what it was, so I immediately looked for words on the pic.... "It is a little girl!". Are you kidding!?!?!? The Burke Boy streak has been broken!?!??! We were so shocked and yet so happy. I still don't think my mother-in-law beleives it.

Alexandra will be her name. We are undecided on a middle name, but we have some time. I already bought her bedding and room decor and her furniture has been ordered (see why I had to wait until after Christmas). We are very excited and will be even more excited to meet her in 15 weeks!
